Below are some of the more commonly encountered problems regarding VSA.  If you don't find what you need here, feel free to contact us at TechSupport@BrookshireSoftware.com.

  1. I have recorded a routine to CDR/RW with Multiple Tracks and there are pauses during playback.
  2. The RAPU will not start or behaves improperly.
  3. The Mini-SSC RX light blinks even when the servos are not moving.
  4. Everything appears to be working fine, but I cannot get the servos to move.

1.  I have recorded a routine to CDR/RW with Multiple Tracks and there are pauses during playback.

CDR/RW's must be burned with "Disk At Once" (DAO) enabled.  See your CD-burning software for details.

2.  The RAPU will not start or behaves improperly.

The RAPU may not be able to playback your CDR/RW for several reasons:

1) If 'no Disc' is displayed, the RAPU cannot detect a valid CDR/RW.  Please verify that the CDR/RW was burned correctly (see the RAPU's documentation) and verify that your CD burner is operating properly.

2) If 'nF Disc' is displayed, the RAPU is unable to read the CDR/RW because the session is not closed.  Refer to your CD-burning software documentation for details on how to be sure the session is closed.

3) Improperly configured hardware may also be to blame.  Remove the RAPU's audio/serial cable from the unit and attempt playback again.  If playback proceeds normally, you may have an unintentional ground loop in your system.  Be sure that any speakers, servos, Mini-SSCs, and any other hardware connected to the RAPU use isolated power supplies (such as bench-top DC power supplies, most wall transformers, and batteries).  A connection between the RAPU's audio/serial ground and earth ground may cause improper operation.

3.  The Mini-SSC RX light blinks even when the servos are not moving.

This is normal.  Several unused addresses above 15 report RAPU operational status, such as version information.  This data is ignored by the Mini-SSC and will not interfere with normal operation.
